About our Pensacola Daycare

After three years of directing a church pre-school and five years of directing a large chain daycare, I decided to go into business for myself.

In 1983, on a wing and a prayer, I opened Malena’s Mini School at Nine Mile Road and Highway 29. Based on my previous experience, I began to develop my own curriculum for my pre-school program. I hired certified staff to teach classes. In 1984 I had the opportunity to double the size of my school and acted on it. I was then able to accommodate 140 children and employee 20 teachers.

Between a pre-school program, an after school program, a summer day camp program and providing breakfast, lunch and snacks each day, I stayed very busy.

Word spread and parents began to ask why I didn’t have a second location. So, in 1986 I built my second location on Pine Forest Road. At this location, I could accommodate another 120 children and employee 20 more teachers.

Today, 29 years later, I have my own tested and proven method of educating children. I participate in multiple state programs that aid in preparing children for school. For the last three years my teachers and I have participated in Wee Read, an early literacy program. I continue to hire only certified teachers to teach my pre-school programs. I offer an active summer day camp program providing fun filled activities for children up to 12 years of age. I have watched the children in my school grow into adults and not only come back to say hello, but I am now raising the children of the children I helped raise in my schools. That is the biggest compliment I could ever receive.
